On 8 and 9 April, we were joined by Marc Chevalier, this year’s Erasmus+ guest expert.
Marc Chevalier, an American trumpeter and conductor from the Conservatoire de Vienne (France), gave a masterclass last week on orchestral practice for the junior and senior wind ensembles and orchestra, and the Jazz Band; a masterclass on conducting techniques and Sound Painting for students on the Professional Degree programme across all specialisms; and a masterclass on music teaching in the American and French systems and Sound Painting for the teaching staff at our centre.
Marc did some really interesting work with the various groups at the centre, and he also gave us a brief introduction to the technique of Sound Painting, a musical language of signs used to create music in real time.
We are delighted with the warm welcome Marc received from both the teaching staff and the students who took part in the activities, as reflected in the survey results, which will be available to view on this blog shortly. Finally, we must extend a special thank you to Marc for his hard work and dedication. It was a real pleasure working with you!
Our team is continuing to work on the upcoming Erasmus activities! Stay tuned!
