On December 8 and 9, 2025, Virginia Lis and Cecilia Martínez, members of the Erasmus+ Team at CMUS Profesional de Vigo, visited MUBA (Tallinn School of Music and Ballet) in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
Virginia and Cecilia were on a preparatory visit, meeting with the MUBA Erasmus+ Team, getting to know the facilities, attending some classes, and planning lessons and activities that our teachers will enjoy in March when they visit this center for job shadowing. Of course, there was also some time to visit this small but incredible city.
MUBA, Tallinn School of Music and Ballet, is a center with impressive facilities, inaugurated four years ago and built in Estonia with financial support from the European Union, which brings together three historic and prestigious music and ballet schools: Tallinn Music High School, Tallinn Ballet School, and Tallinn Georg Ots Music School. At this school, Estonian students can study classical music, ballet, and modern music (jazz, pop, and rock) at the elementary and professional levels free of charge. They can also study other specialties such as sound engineering, piano tuning, music production, music entrepreneurship, instrumental pedagogy, choral conducting, and coaching for modern music bands.
The two people in charge of the MUBA Erasmus+ Team, Reet Käärik and Triin Jurimae, were very kind, welcoming our colleagues with an initial meeting where they explained in detail how this prestigious center works, and accompanied them on a tour of all the facilities.
Among the activities carried out, the following stand out: visits to Music Theory classes (harmony and analysis), Rhythm Music Solfeggio (musical language and ear training for modern music students), Solfeggio (musical language for classical music students), violin and clarinet classes, string orchestra and symphony orchestra rehearsals, and woodwind, brass, and string auditions. They also attended a soul music recital by modern music students held at Philly Joe’s Jazz Bar. Of course, there were also visits to interesting places in this small but incredible city.
Finally, we would like to thank Reet and Triin for welcoming our colleagues Virginia and Cecilia, and all the teachers they worked with for their kindness and helpfulness.
