Yesterday, Thursday 8 May, we celebrated ‘Europe Day’ in the best possible way!

Yesterday’s activities began with a small musical intervention in the hall of the centre, in charge of the accordion students, and after this musical aperitif, the concert began in the Auditorium, where our Erasmus Coordinator, Sara Peral, made a short introduction to inaugurate this activity. The presentation of this traditional concert in our school, promoted by the Erasmus Team in collaboration with the Activities Team, promotes the project of our school and the Erasmus Programme in general.

The Erasmus Programme, beyond the mobilities of students and teachers, has four main priorities: Inclusion, digital transformation, environmental sustainability and European citizenship. In relation to these last two, Sara highlighted the activities developed in the centre within our Erasmus project and among them, the recent concert on 24 April on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the EFCA or the Concerto de Europa. She also valued the work of the agency for what it means in safeguarding marine resources and sustainability in fisheries.

Finally, our coordinator gave way to the intervention of Dr. Susan Steele, the Executive Director of the EFCA, who accompanied us in this celebration and made a beautiful reflection on cooperation between European institutions, promoting the sustainability of European values.

Following these speeches, a varied representation of students from our school delighted the audience as we know best: with music! The participating students and teachers were Paula Cereijo, Alejandra do Camiño, Andrea Cangeri, Martina Sarabia, Laura Sabela Roncero, Nahiara Graña, Amalia Regatero, Martiño Paz, Laura Cabo, Gabriel Fernández, Diego Campos, Xabela Martín, Antón Montes, Simón Porto, Sabela Rey, Gabriel Raña, Santiago Esperón, Ángel Domínguez, Guillermo Barreira, Mateo Porto, Pablo Leirós, Diego Campo, Brais García, Patricia Cadaveira, Alexandre Gallego and Cesáreo Cougil.

We are very grateful for the presence of the guests from EFCA, who accompanied us on this special day, and we hope that this will be the first of many collaborations between these two institutions. We would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Susan Steele, Executive Director of the EFCA, for her participation and for the deference she showed in addressing the audience in Spanish. And of course to the participating students, faculty and audience.
